Open Brief - Peace One Day

Peace One Day is a non-profit organisation, founded in 1999 by Jeremy Gilley.

In 2001, the member states of the United Nations unanimously adopted the first ever annual day of global ceasefire and non-violence on 21 September – Peace Day.

 

We want to begin the tradition of reading a peace book on International day of peace. These books will be children stories of peace and hope, written and illustrated by people from all over the world. Publishers working not-for-profit in association with Peace One Day will choose the best of these books for global release, made available to everyone in schools, community groups, conflict areas and even refugee camps. Reading a Peace Book on a Peace Day will become a much-loved worldwide tradition.
